A quieter mind, one gentle step at a time

At Gem Kate CBT, I offer a calm and supportive space where you can talk openly about what's going on for you. We'll work together to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and find ways to help you feel more able to cope when things feel overwhelming.

CBT coaching from someone who's been there

I'm Gem, a CBT coach specialising in anxiety, health challenges, grief and life transitions. Sessions are flexible: we can meet by secure video call, talk on the phone, or meet in person in Bexhill-on-Sea, either indoors or out walking together.

What you can expect

A calm, welcoming space to begin

Starting CBT coaching can feel like a big step. My aim is to provide a safe, confidential and supportive environment where you feel heard, respected and comfortable.

  • A safe, confidential and supportive environment
  • Compassionate, non-judgemental listening
  • Practical CBT tools and techniques tailored to you
  • Clear goals we review together as you progress
  • Simple exercises to practise between sessions
  • Support for anxiety, stress, confidence and coping

Whether you want to reduce anxiety, manage stress, improve your confidence or develop healthier coping strategies, we will work together at a pace that feels right for you.

How it feels

Support that fits you

Start where you are

We begin with a free initial 20-minute conversation so you can see if this feels right.

Practical, structured tools

Evidence-based CBT, shaped around the way your mind actually works, not a textbook diagnosis.

Walking together

Compassionate, steady support between sessions so the changes you make actually stick.

Services

Support on your terms

However you prefer to connect, video, phone or in person, every session is shaped around what feels right for you.

Video calls

United Kingdom · via Konfidens

Secure, face-to-face sessions from wherever you are. Ideal for privacy, flexibility and seeing familiar expressions.

Phone calls

Anywhere you have signal

Voice-only sessions when video feels like too much. Some people find it easier to open up without a screen.

In-person sessions

Bexhill-on-Sea · outdoors or indoors

Walk-and-talk along the coast, or a quiet indoor space locally. Movement, fresh air and conversation together.

Walking coaching

Talking while you walk can make conversations feel easier

Taking the first step towards coaching can feel daunting. For many people, meeting outdoors feels less clinical and more human, a way to talk freely.

Learn more about walking & talking →
Movement that settles the nervous system
Walking naturally lowers cortisol, and people often find emotions easier to process when their body is gently moving.
Nature as a grounding tool
Time outdoors has well-documented benefits for mental health, reduced anxiety, lifted mood and a steadier sense of calm.
Less clinical, less intimidating
For anyone nervous about trying coaching, walking side by side along the coast tends to feel safer than sitting face to face.
CBT coaching in motion
CBT coaching is about taking action and making small, intentional changes, walking sessions embody that from the very first meeting.

Who this is for

You might be in the right place if…

  • Your mind races with 'what if' scenarios
  • You avoid situations because of how they make you feel
  • Your anxiety is making decisions for you instead of you making them
  • You've lost interest in things that used to bring you joy
  • You're tired of feeling this way but don't know where to start
  • You're facing stress, work difficulties, or relationship challenges
  • You struggle with low self-esteem and confidence
  • You're caught in procrastination that's hard to break
  • You're navigating life transitions, career changes, burnout, or new parenthood
  • You're dealing with hormonal mental health, perimenopause, surgical menopause, or body image after illness

The approach

What is CBT coaching, and how does it actually work?

I offer CBT-informed coaching, not CBT psychotherapy. Coaching uses the same practical, evidence-based principles to help you manage everyday challenges, build resilience, and move towards your goals, but it does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.

In coaching, we focus on the present and the future rather than exploring the past in detail. You'll learn to notice the thoughts that drive your distress, test them like a curious scientist, and replace patterns that no longer serve you.
